Mississippi Queen Foods first began, in 2006, as a company, in Toronto, selling Southern baked goods at farmers markets; Mardi Gras King Cakes and supplies; and Southern groceries, online, as well as a line of frozen foods. The company grew, to also include catering services, and food vending on the blues festival circuit.
Then, in 2015, the move was made, to Hamilton, to open the first, permanent location. The initial plan was to open a ‘Ma & Pa’ style ‘take out food’ counter. However, the original plan evolved into something much more unique.
Mississippi Queen Foods is an experience in authentic, Southern food, music, and hospitality. This is an intimate setting, of only 21 seats, best described as a ‘kitchen/dining room’ party. Mississippi Queen Foods is not a regular restaurant, or retail store, with operating hours, that opens up, for daily lunch, or supper.
